PALM SPRINGS – Hector Camacho, Jr., adopted son of Met Sentinel founder Dr. Dustin Alexander-Pérez, has died aged 44, after a lengthy battle with lymphoma. This information was made available through a press release issued by this newspapers public info officer.
A private service will be held Tuesday, July 3rd, 2025 at Wiefels Memorial Chapel in Palm Springs, California at 11:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held the same day at Alexander-Pérez's home in Palm Springs at 2:00 p.m.
Camacho, Jr. passed away at Alexander-Pérez's Palm Springs home where his husband, Fernando Talavera-Camacho and his adtoped father Dustin Alexander-Pérez were by his side on June 8th, 2025 around 1:15 p.m. PT. Hector Camacho, Jr. had been battling lymphoma for several months and endured a wide range of treatments and endless tests since September 2024.
“He was an incredible man; one of the bravest people I've ever known,” stated husband Fernando Talavera-Camacho, 31, of Cathedral City, California. “He saved my life and helped me change for the better.” The couple met one year ago on June 26th, 2024 in California and were nearly inseparable until Camacho, Jr.'s recent death.
“The two were an amazing couple. It was one of the sweetest and most sincere love stories I've ever seen,” stated Alexander-Pérez. “The level of tireless, selfless devotion and the amount of love Fernando showered upon Hector was something sent from heaven. It was heartbreaking to see Hector decline, but we're doing our best to focus on all the time we had with him.”
When asked about the times his husband Hector was in and out of hospitals and finally in hospice care, Fernando replied, “He deserved the best treatment and care, but didn't always receive that from various places we went. My life just won't be the same without him, but I know he wants me to keep moving forward on the journey.”
Camacho, Jr.'s wish was to be at home with his loved ones when he passed away. He had frequently discussed his final arrangements with husband and father.
Hector Camacho, Jr. was born in Los Angeles in 1980 and was preceded in death by his mother, Esther and his father, Hector, Sr. He is survived by his husband, Fernando Talavera-Camacho, two brothers Antonio and Victor and his son Derrick.
